I don’t think I’ve realised how stressed I’ve been during the last few months until the last few days. I don’t know why but I was listening to Girl Unit’s 2010 mix and a big imaginary cloud that was hanging over my head since I made that OMG video has shifted. For some reason I’m really happy and finally able to appreciate music fully again. Just as well because I’ve got my first single dropping any day soon on 10″ coloured green vinyl and another one round the corner coming on digital. Tonight we worked on a pretty decent remix of Drake’s Shut It Down.

Saturday we’re DJing at Hipster’s Don’t Dance – come along it will be fun.

I didn’t play games for a least a decade before I got GTA IV and to be honest I don’t really have much desire to play anything else. Maybe it’s the drug deals, the twitter pastiche, Porsches, and the coked up Brits dancing to a Paul Oakenfold piss take. It’s just a big lol.

I went to a night called Aint It Black the other week at the surprisingly good but terribly named Favela Chic, and saw a DJ team called Yo Mamma! play a Baltimore style set. It was fun.

Forgive my ignorance but I know nothing about Baltimore anymore – I can’t keep abreast of everything! It all sounds the same to me – either a modern hip hop hit or a dance classic cut up percussively in Ableton with a Sing sing or Think break underneath. I try not to analyse things too much because it stops me enjoying myself and makes me old and cynical sounding.

This is my favourite ever Baltimore style track that wasn’t made in Baltimore.

I got it in 2003 and it’s taken this long to get my head round it. Both Rory P and Michael O’N will love this – it could be the best mixtape ever. It’s full of gangsta tales about purse snatching, splitting bums, crack dealing and keeping dead skeezers in freezer all mixed up perfectly for the kids – it’s deep. Happy valentines.

I’m too busy basking in Miami to give a damn about bass music but DJ Damage isn’t so lucky – he’s still in London. You can catch him playing music and dubstep (puke) at Z-Shed.  Night Slugs and Real Gold are doing great parties on this night too but this has Damage so it’s the best..

I’ve posted this video before but it’s so good I’m doing it again. This time here’s the mp3 too although Tracy performs it far better in the film than on record.

CHRIS “THE GLOVE” TAYLOR FT ICE T – RECKLESS

I don’t know much about The Glove but seems pretty amazing. Here he is with Egyptian Lover, who is also wearing a glove, teaching you suckers how to DJ.

This track takes 40 seconds to start but when it does it’s worth it. I wish I had it on vinyl because I can imagine it would sound so sweet with the pitch wacked up played fast.

Ed DMX once rapped it to me a few winters back at a 7 Year Glitch night. He went ‘my first taste of Miami bass came when I was on tour in ‘84′ – totally wrong.

STETSASONIC – MIAMI BASS

We’ve been working hard – really hard. Our new soon to be finished mix features  13 of our own productions and remixes which range in tempo and style from heavy breathing ‘83 electro to electrohouse bangers and dubstep wobblers. There’s only two tracks not by us on the mix. One by L Vis 1990 and another by AC Slater. Here’s an unmastered preview/demo of one of ours and it’s a bootleg of Detroit In Effect that sounds a bit like Deekline IMO. What do you think?

BTW My Dad almost killed Peter Green when he came out of a gig and ran into on coming traffic in 1968.

I’ve been having really bad luck on eBay.  I’m going to stick with just ordering nitrous oxide for my fellow bloggers because 12” singles are proving to be a big no.  Almost every record I’ve ordered recently has  either got lost in the post or come to me scratched, warped or worse. One girl sent me a 12” of Joyce Sims’ All And All beautifully wrapped in brown paper and bubblewrap but without any cardboard backing – it arrived in several pieces!

So thank god for this freestyle 12” that came all the way from America undamaged.
