I’ve loved this band for years.

Next time I do karaoke I’ll pass on Enter Sandman and give this a try in honour of Kevy B.
Been sorting through my record collection and I noticed I used to buy far more interesting vinyl before I became a DJ.
DOPPLEREFFEKT - SCIENTISTS (ALBUM VERSION)
Obviously Starkey and Vex’d are next level but old Planet - µ releases by Mike P and Jega are among my favourite ever 12″s. Amazingly The Fear was released on a major label - it’s a beautiful distorted mess.
I remember Rory playing this remix and I made sure I got my hands on it the next day.
BJORK - IT’S IN OUR HANDS (SOFT PINK TRUTH MIX)
Metal fingers is one of those records like Dizzee’s I Luv U that is so familiar that I couldn’t listen to in a long time. Now their biggest hit sounds really fresh again. I remember seeing them live a few times. They were fun.
Alice Empire Amen Warrior Princess was and still is me and my sister Zara. The tracks featured varying degrees of help from Ben O’Shea and Alex_Tea and were recorded between 1998 and 2001. The music was intended as a pastiche or maybe a tribute to Atari Teenage Riot, Digital Hardcore, Alec Empire and other related artists of that era.
Patric C from Digital Hardcore once called me up to tell me he wanted to release our material as a 7″. I thought it was a wind up that was something to do with my friend Nadia so I slammed the phone down. Thinking about it now I don’t think it was - oops. Another label got our track featured on a compilation that was very briefly in the Singapore indie top 10. Chicks On Speed were apparently fans too!
ALICE EMPIRE & THE AMEN WARRIOR PRINCESSES - ONLY GOT ONE BREAK
ALICE EMPIRE & THE AMEN WARRIOR PRINCESSES - CUNT KEBAB feat Ben
ALICE EMPIRE & THE AMEN WARRIOR PRINCESSES - ALICE’S DREAM
ALICE EMPIRE & THE AMEN WARRIOR PRINCESSES - JOANNA’S BAPS feat Ben and Alex
The Last Ninja series from the late 1980s is considered a classic for retro gamers. The graphics were wow and the playability even better. The box for the first sequel even contained a plastic shuriken throwing star and ninja hood! My father shared an office with the developer who was only in his early 20s but insanely successful. The royalties from this series alone earned that guy two new Ferraris - they really impressed me when I was eight.
My favourite aspect is the music. The Commodore 64 music sounds like a cross between Add N To X and a John Carpenter film - only better!
MATT GRAY - LAST NINJA 2 - LOADING MUSIC

When I was 16 I don’t think garage existed yet. Instead I got into 7″ singles, fanzines, glitter and dog collars. I used to see bands like these weekly. Most of them came from Scotland. These are all great for hangovers.
THE REBEL X COUNTRY TEASERS - THE IDIOT
DICK JOHNSON - HIP FLASK SWAGGER
THE YUMMY FUR - HONG KONG IN STEREO

My new blog design has sort of coincided with Rosh Hashanah the new Jewish year. I could use this a tenuous excuse to write about how Moses, Steinski, Arthur Baker and Rick Rubin invented hip hop almost six thousand years ago but I won’t. Instead I’ll give you a crap joke that came into my mailbox a few days ago.
Back in cowboy times, a westbound wagon train was lost and low on food. No other humans had been seen for days and then the pioneers saw an old rabbi sitting beneath a tree.
“Is there some place ahead where we can get food?” they asked.
“Vell, I tink so,” the old man said, “but I wouldn’t go up dat hill und down de udder side. Somevun tole me you’d run into a big bacon tree.”
“A bacon tree?” asked the wagon train leader.
“Yah, an bacon tree. Vould I lie? Trust me. I vouldn’t go dere.”
The leader goes back and tells his people what the rabbi said.
“So why did he say not to go there?” a person asked.
Other pioneers said, “Oh, you know those crazy Jews - they don’t eat bacon.”
So the wagon train goes up the hill and down the other side.
Suddenly, Indians attack them from everywhere and massacre all except the leader who manages to escape and get back to the old rabbi.
Near dead, the man shouts, “You fool! You sent us to our deaths! We followed your route but there was no bacon tree, just hundreds of Indians who killed everyone but me.”
The old Jewish man holds up his hand and says, “Oy, vait a minute.” He quickly picks up an English-Yiddish dictionary and begins thumbing through it.
“Oy Gevalt, I made myself such ah big mishtake! It vuzn’t a bacon tree, it vuz a ham bush!!”

If my friend ever starts her ‘freak out’ night/day I’d like to freak people out one time to a set of comedy hip hop records. This track challenges Mel Brooks’ Hitler Rap for brilliance.
M.C MIKER ‘G’ & DEEJAY SVEN - HOLIDAY RAP
3. House Party (1990)
2. Breakin’ (1984)
1. Earth Girls Are Easy (1988)
Right, this is enough blogging for a while. Time to get back on track to reality.
“Don’t be stupid be a smarty - come on join the Nazi party”! I love Mel Brooks.
